INFISA Attends Indo Defence Expo 2025: Promoting Fisherman Safety and Efficiency Through Technology

JAKARTA, June, 13 2025 – The Indonesian Fisherman Association (INFISA) today attended a special invitation from its partner, ALIT (China Aerospace Long March International Trade Co., Ltd), at the grand Indo Defence Expo 2025, held from June 11-14, 2025, and officially opened by President Prabowo Subianto. INFISA’s presence at this prestigious event garnered significant attention, given that the primary focus of discussions was the critical challenges faced by small-scale fishermen in Indonesia, particularly concerning safety, health, sustainability, and operational cost efficiency in their fishing operations at sea through the utilization of technology.

INFISA’s delegation, led by Mr. Zabidi and Mr. Kholis, was warmly welcomed by ALIT representatives during an intensive discussion session. In the meeting, INFISA candidly presented the realities and persistent challenges faced by small-scale fishermen in Indonesia. “Safety at sea is a top priority. Our fishermen often sail under high-risk conditions, especially in extreme weather. Furthermore, health issues due to exposure to the marine environment and limited access to medical services are also serious concerns,” he stated.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of marine resource sustainability and operational cost efficiency. “With increasingly complex environmental challenges and rising fuel prices, fishermen require innovative solutions to maintain their livelihoods without damaging marine ecosystems. This is where the role of technology becomes vital,” he added.

ALIT, a company renowned for its aerospace technology innovations and related solutions, demonstrated its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s fisheries sector. In its presentation, ALIT showcased various potential technologies that can be adapted for fishermen, such as advanced satellite-based navigation systems, emergency communication tools, sea condition monitoring sensors, and renewable energy solutions for fishing vessels.

“We see great potential for collaboration with Indonesian fishermen. The technology we possess, though originating from the aerospace sector, can be adapted to enhance the safety, health, and operational efficiency of fishermen,” stated an ALIT representative. “We believe that with the right technological integration, Indonesian fishermen can work more safely, productively, and sustainably.”

This meeting is expected to be a preliminary step towards the development of concrete solutions that can be implemented for Indonesian fishermen. Both INFISA and ALIT agreed to further explore forms of cooperation, including the potential for joint product development tailored to the specific needs of small-scale fishermen in Indonesia.

In his opening speech at the Indo Defence Expo 2025, President Prabowo Subianto underscored the importance of national defense for a nation to maintain its sovereignty. “Defense is a guarantee of independence and prosperity,” President Prabowo stated at the event held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

INFISA’s visit to the Indo Defence Expo 2025 was not merely to attend an exhibition but represented a strategic mission to bring home innovations and solutions that can elevate the dignity and welfare of Indonesian fishermen, further strengthening their role as a primary pillar of the nation’s maritime sovereignty. Fishermen are an integral part of the frontline in safeguarding maritime sovereignty.
